Welcom to the Geek Church

Hello my name is John-Mark Henke and I'm a pastor and also a geek. Now when I say geek I mean full community geek. I love role playing games like Dungeons and Dragons, all manor of video games, table top games like Warhammer 40K and Warmachine (i play Black Templar and Protectorate of Menoth respectively) and many other facet of geek culture. This has caused some issues however. Both sides of my life seem to be at war with each other. On the one hand you have the conservative Christians saying the most things in geek culture are evil and the geeks are mad that the Christian for saying there favorite hobby are evil. So a result I sometimes fell like an only child in a messy divorce, pull in two ways that I don't really find mutually exclusive. As a Christian I do not find any major part of geek culture inherently "evil" and I do not believe that there is any contradiction to being a Christian geek. As a result of this deviation there are many of my fellow geeks that know very little about the Bible and God in general, same don't really want to know and same would like to learn more but there local Church feels hostel to them. There for I will be blogging Bible messages using aspects from geek culture to relate the message to you the geek readers. Why do it this way, well hear is your first Bible lesson. In Jesus' ministry he would use parables, stories that help frame the message in a way that was relate-able. When Jesus was with farmers he used farm analogies, when with businessmen men he used businessmen analogies. He met the people where they where, so that's what I'm going to do. These messages will be on this blog as well as YouTube (i hope). I will do my best to get these out ever week but we will see how that goes. See you next time, God bless.
